Neon
The Neon Boneyard Photoshoot
I don't remember exactly when, but one morning my mom showed me an article in our local newspaper of the Neon Boneyard in Las Vegas and I immediatly fell in love. Basically, its a collection of old Las vegas neon signs, in my eyes, perfect for a photoshoot. So what's a better occasion than my wedding day!?
So after the ceremony we will be heading over there to take some pics.
So excited!

Till I kissed you
The Song
Ok, so basically ever since I watched My Girl 2 and Never Been Kissed I wanted to be kissed to the song Don't Worry Baby by The Beachboys. (Yes, I am aware that i have weird fantasies), so I was set on this being my wedding song, since that would guarantee me getting kissed to this song.
Well, but this is not only my wedding and Manny wants Till I kissed You by The Everly Brothers and since that song doesn't completely suck, I agreed to it.
But honestly, our real wedding song is Just Like Heaven by The Cure just because it's an amazing song, even though it's kind of sad. The same goes for There's A Light That Never Goes Out by The Smith (a close runner up). It just kind of has too much death in it to be a good wedding song. But I love both of those and think that they are beautiful songs.
Really, this whole song thing is the only reason I'm sad that we're not having a big wedding with a reception, because then I would have the power of controlling about 3 hours (minimum) of music!! A dream come true. But I guess I'll have to just do that for our Bonfire Party.

Save The Date
Save The Date Postcard
So, most people do Save The Date postcards / Engagement announcements. We've been going back and forth between whether we want to do that or not. I really want to since I think its fun to design Save The Date cards and it's a cool keepsake. You can have more fun with these cards than with the invitations, but also, they are an additional expense.
I looked into a few options and checked out Costco's offers (Costco is a store where you can only shop if you are a member. There are member fees, but because of that, a lot of things are cheaper - also custom postcards etc). Here are a few designs I like. Please let me know what you think.
The colors can be changed for all these designs.
Also, what do you think about having the date in the actual picture??

Vegas, Baby!
The Where and When
So, I've been planning my wedding for a while now. Probably over a year. We decided on getting married in Vegas, since it wont be a big wedding either way (especially since my parents probably wont be able to attend, and if they can't come, who else really matters!?) and it's just less stuff to deal with. Oh, and I REALLY wanna have pictures taken at the Neon Boneyard (more on that later), which is kinda located in Vegas . . . .
I researched some different chapels and definitly want to get married outside. Eventually, I landed on the Viva Las Vegas Chapel (yes, ... I know ... Viva Las Vegas ... so classy. lol).
First I was thinking about the Garden Chapel, but eventually decided on the Garden Gazebo
Yay, this will be us!!
What I found out about this place as well, is that they film all ceremonies and then you can watch it online, either live or afterwards. Super cool, since i was thinking about having my parents watch live via skype.
Oh, and btw:
The Date is May 21st, a tuesday, don't ask me why, I just like that date for some reason and it feels right!! :) (And this wedding is definitly not gonna follow a lot of traditional rules, it's really just our chance to do whatever the heck we want .. haha)

Color War
Engagement Photoshoot
We decided on having an engagement photo session so that we could use the photos for Save The Date cards and Invitations and also just to have some nice pictures of the both of us.
I know a lot of photographers because I am a photo stylist, but being in front of the camera just feels wrong to me. Finally I contacted a photographer I know and that I think I could feel comfortable in front of. Her name is Jessie Kenney and she mostly photographs children and families but I just love her style and know that she will do a great job.
I tried to collect some inspiration for the shoot, decide on some poses and maybe a theme and discovered that it is kinda difficult to plan a shoot that I actually have to be IN. I want it to be cute, but not too lovey doovey and I am still scared of being in front of a camera and looking all awkward. Jessie and I decided on December 8th for the date of the shoot and after some more conversation (and her liking a couple of pictures on my pinterest) we landed on doing a Holi Powder photoshoot. I am very excited about it. i think it will be fun and not be 1.5 hours of awkward posing.
Let's get dirty!!

Be Mine
The Engagement, or something like that
According to Manny, we are engaged and I am the only person who doesn't see that. Well, I guess I am old fashioned and am only excepting the title of fiance once I actually have a ring on my finger. He has asked me though. Several times. My personal favorite was one day (May 25th to be exact), at night when he took my hair tie, rolled it up and put it on my finger. Cute!
At that time, I had just graduated from college and was still waiting on my work permit which was supposed to come in the mail any day. I had worked a Fashion Show all day and Manny had texted me that I had gotten a letter from the USCIS (my work permit?!?!?!?!). So I got really excited, ready to start my work life. When I got home later that night, I opened the letter and it said that they needed more papers and once they received those, it would be at least another month before I would get my permit. At that time, Manny was at a friends house and I had a tiny little breakdown. Worrying about not being approved for my permit and having to leave the country really scarred me (it still does whenever I give myself the time to think about it). I hate not having control over things, especially if one of those things is my future!! So I called him and he came home as quick as possible and tried to calm me down. He even offered to drive to Vegas right then and get married. lol .
After I had calmed down a little and tried to attack the problem logically, he "proposed", if you wanna call it that.

You and Me
Who are these kids?
My name is Steffi. I was born and raised in Germany and moved half way across the world after High School to live in San Diego California.
My boyfriend ... fiance ... husband to be ... that dude next to me in the picture, is Manuel. A nursing student who grew up in a small town 2 hours east of San Diego.
We met in September 2010 while we are both attending the same college. Since November 1, 2010, we are officially a couple.
We like food, music, arts and crafts, and long walks at the beach ... haha.
In July of 2011, we adopted a little kitten (2 weeks at the time) and named her Mozart.
On November 1, 2011 we moved in together (yes, totally cheesy, on our 1 year anniversary), with Manny's brother.
In June of this year, we got another kitten, Captain, and in August we moved into our very own apartment.
What Happend So Far
I was thinking about keeping a diary or starting a blog about the whole wedding process, just to keep all my inspirations together and maybe share some ideas with others. Since a hard copy diary would include a lot of printing, cutting and pasting (to include visuals, since my drawing skills are rather ... well ... non existent) I now am finally starting this blog. You're probably reading this because you're either one of the special people in my life that I want to share this with, or you somehow stumpled upon this site. Either way - welcome ;)
